UHV's DeSive tied for 31st at A&M-CC tourney

CORPUS CHRISTI - The University of Houston-Victoria's Morgan DeSive posted two strong rounds Monday and was tied for 31st after the first day of the American Bank Islander Classic hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the par-72 Corpus Christi Country Club.
Final round play in the 54-hole event will be Tuesday at the 6,073-yard course.
DeSive opened with an 80 before finishing strong with a 76 to finish at 156 after two rounds.
DeSive's 156 helped the Jaguars to a 15th-place standing after two rounds, 17 shots ahead of Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Jaguars finished the first 36 holes with a 726 score after posting rounds of 371-355.
Behind DeSive for the Jaguars, Larissa Loredo posted a 94-89-183, Lyndie Smith a 91-94-185 and Devon Dueser a 106-96-202.
UT-San Antonio holds the team lead with a 36-hole score of 597, while Lamar and A&M-Corpus Christi are tied for second eight shots back at 605. Oral Roberts is fourth at 606, while North Texas follows at 610 and Sam Houston State is in at 611.
Central Arkansas' Julia Roth (76-70) and UTSA's Paola Valerio (73-73) are tied for the individual lead at 146.
