So if Goliad wants a weak military, are they Taliban?

It's called Col. Fannin disease, symptoms include but not limited to delusions of grandeur when the infected persons encounter insurmountable odds.

San Antonio River water has been doing this to Anglo Americans since 1835. -
What I am missing? Goliad County gets this airport for a $1. They can't make it work, decide in 2008 to punt to the Navy and ask for $675k. Less than two years later the Navy offers $2.36 mil for an airport that apparently the county doesn't want. Now the county gets real greedy and wants more.
The Navy has played the condemnation card and the county has hired a law firm on a $333k contingency. The county is going to have to get at least $2.7 mil to get to the Navy's first offer. If it goes to condemnation, a judge is going to set that sales amount.
Very risky strategy on the county's part.
Oh yeah, the wild card nobody is talking about. Congress is getting ready to make some pretty major cuts. I suspect expansion items for any military branch will be on the table. This whole thing could be mute. It has happened before. How do you think Goliad got the airport to begin with? I would have to laugh if their greed cost them the whole deal and county is stuck taking care of an airport they don't want.

Corpus Christi and Kingsville are doing everything they can to keep the Navy. What is the problem in Goliad? Is this the will of the majority of the people in the area or just a few of the big wigs? I've lived with the sounds of the trainers for years and they are more joy than disturbance.

Get a grip people. We need to keep the Navy in South Texas for economic as well as patriotic reasons. -
Why is Goliad so anti american? Let the Navy get it's air base back so the pilots can be trained to land and take off again. This is a small price to pay for freedom! Sounds to me like that Goliad is only after the money and want more than the airpark is worth. If I was the Navy I would condem the property and take it from Golaid. Goliad has already turned down a fair price for the property. Did'nt Goliad only pay $1 for the property? If I am wrong let me know please.

Grow up Goliad! We need to protect our country and you are a henderence. Sell the park and watch the money roll in from the navy people. Goliad wants more than they deserve. I say take the park and don't pay Goliad anything. That would teach them to mess with the Navy. -
so what's the end game here ?
besides officials throwing money out the window after they passed up on millions ?
