The Victoria Television Group received two awards from the Texas AP Broadcasters contest, the AP announced Monday.

KAVU won first place for a Sept. 23 weathercast by David Harker, while KAVU's Lacey Harris-New won second place in the news anchor or anchor team category.

The station competed in Division 4, against other similar-sized cities, such as Lubbock, Beaumont and Midland-Odessa.
