How do I enter the "What's Your Story?" essay contest? How much could I win?
Victoria College is currently accepting essay applications for the annual "What's Your Story?" scholarship contest. Eligible VC students have the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship funded by the Victoria College Foundation. Essays should be submitted by the March 31 deadline, along with an application. Scholarship winners (three winners are usually selected) will be notified by April 20, and awards will be presented during a special donor appreciation breakfast.
The best way to enter the contest is to visit the VC homepage, and scroll to the bottom where you'll find a link with access to an application.
To be eligible, VC students must be currently enrolled, have at least a 2.0 grade point average and have completed at least six hours toward an associate degree or certificate. Applicants should also be planning to enroll in the fall 2011 semester.
Your essay and application should highlight your own experiences at VC and use specific examples in developing a thoughtful and genuine response to the question, "How has Victoria College changed your life?"
Entries will be judged based on form and content and how well the essay captures the essence of the question posed. Judging will be conducted by a committee of two VC faculty members, two VC staff members and two Victoria community members. The committee will select the best essays and award the winners a $1,000 scholarship to be used for tuition and other expenses in the following semester.
