• let's get this straight. Red light cameras don't make streets safer, the ones that want the cameras out are law abiding citizens. The ones breaking the law are the city council for refusing to allow a valid petition to go to the people. Cameras cause accidents and violate our sacred constitutional rights. It's absolutely sickening to see so many misinformed people support a foreign corporation interfering with local politics like this to set up a fake front group and sue the city to keep a petition off the ballot. You should all be ashamed.

  • This really upsets me.
While Driving and Texting, I didn't see the red light and ran it, while some SOB on the phone nearly hit me. I wish people would pay more attention while driving.

  • @familyman that's true but it's also true that whenever a law is proposed that would increase safety, there is a segment of the population in this area that rises up and pitches a fit about it. They argue that it somehow curtails their individual rights. It's similar to the texting and driving ban. These same people feel that to ban that is a step too far and interferes with some sort of God given right. They can act like morons but not on the roads. Too bad we can't legislate stupidity.

  • Don't care if it is about revenue. The cameras have a bearing on people running red lights and the argument about them causing more harm than good is bs. We really need need these cameras in Victoria. The number of red light runners is getting terrible.

  • If the people of Port Lavaca would learn to drive by the letter of the law then the cameras would not be there. Since you are going to drive like teenagers then the city will treat you as such! What will it take for you to learn how the government works? If you don't like the way things are at this time then remember that each of these people, on the council are up for re-election soon! Make your voice known then.

  • The "traffic" coalition is a Front Group for the SCAMERA VENDOR REDFLEX:

What we have here is a city DESPERATE to keep the scameras.

THIS IS NOT about "preventing" a lawsuit. THIS IS ABOUT PREVENTING DEMOCRACY!

That is what the scamera vendors have resorted to.

    Ban the CAMS!
