A Brownsville man was found guilty Wednesday of trafficking marijuana through Victoria.
Jose Guadalupe Torres, 41, was found guilty of possessing 285 pounds of marijuana while traveling on U.S. 59 in Victoria.
The marijuana was hidden in the trailer of an 18-wheeler hidden among a full load of Roma tomatoes to be delivered to Atlanta.
Torres was indicted for the crime in September.
Assistant district attorney Brian Hrach prosecuted the case.
The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Victoria Police Department worked the case.
"This is another message to drug traffickers that we do not want them to use our roadways," said Victoria County District Attorney Steve Tyler.
