The Greater Victoria Area Chamber of Commerce on Friday voted in favor of moving a Victoria university into a new system.
News came by way of mass email sent by Randy Vivian, the chamber's president.
"We have voted to support HB 2556," Vivian wrote. "We believe the change would better serve the citizens and students of the area and the state."
Rep. Geanie Morrison, R-Victoria, filed HB 2556 last week. If passed, the bill would move the University of Houston-Victoria into the Texas A&M University System.
Vivian's "Call To Action" follows similar action taken earlier in the week by the Victoria Economic Development Corp. Dale Fowler, the economic development president, also sent a mass email calling for support of the bill.
Both men included the email addresses for those you can contact to express your views:
Sen. Glenn Hegar: email@example.com
Dennis Patillo: firstname.lastname@example.org
