I can see the steam rising out of your ears since someone is talking about your DA. No he is not a gang member but since your honest DA has told you and everyone else that he is then now that's what you believe. But hey keep on believing the DA. Wonder what his excuse will be for his actions that blasted him on the front page of todays paper. Keep this in mind, there are holes!

  • mchelle7734...refresh my memory, please. Your brother is the gang member, right?

  • Lamppost,
We're working to get a detailed story on that claim. We expect to have full coverage in Wednesday's editions. Thanks.

  • This does not surprise me about Tyler. I see the comments made today and geez were are all of Tyler's supporters now? Where is the Go Steve Go and the (in a country voice) Steve's got my vote! He Haw!! It's funny how last week Steve came out on the news talking about my brother, that's right I said my brother, and now he's on the front page news! Hmmm interesting. This is not the last that you will hear someone speak out about Steve Tyler and the the "lack of evidence in recent indictments". Yours truly will have much to say about the case that is "around corner."

  • As a supporter of Steve Tyler, I must admit that I am disappointed in his actions (or inaction, as the case may be). I was hoping for a quick resolution to the matter once the special prosecutor was named. I hope that this serves as a wake-up call to him, for him to get off his butt and follow through on this.

  • Vet43,
If you have information to share about any jail suicide, please call local editor Becky Cooper at 361-574-1222. We have no leads that suggest improper procedures or foul play with any recent incident of this type, but we always will look deeper if we have reason to do so. Thank you.

  • Tyler is a Republican, why would you think he cares about whats right and wrong.

    March 29, 2011 at 11:20 a.m.
  • I believe the bottom line is that Mr. Tyler allowed the issue with Ure, Buentello, and David Smith to become personal and as such he just cannot let it go. Enough is enough though. Enough time has been wasted, enough money has been spent. I agree with Brady as well. Buentello should either have his day in court or have the charges dropped.

  • The Victoria Advocate is very selective on who they cast a bright light on in their news reporting. Yet a man commited suicide in a county jail cell and not word one on how this was allowed to happen. No investigation by outside agencys followup. Could there be some special relationship with VCSD that we have not heard about?

  • remind me again how this guy got voted in for another term.......oh wait, this is Victoria

  • Steve Tyler ignorning a case?? o no not Steve!!!Not the man who is so confident in all that he does, the man who talks so highly about all his cases!! (exageration) !! It is about time someone puts the behind the scene stuff for the public to see. All he does is waste our tax dollars- and with the economy the way it is now we cant afford to have our hard working money be thrown down the drain on stuff like that. Hes busy working on a capital murder case?! O would this be the case he talked about to the public? the case he stated he had fresh evidence on however he hasnt presented anything on that case as well. Stop wasting our tax dollars Steven Tyler! Here we are working our butts off to support them so called gangbangers room, board and transporation fees (moving them county to county) If you cared about Victoria's tax dollars you would present your so called eveidence and get it all over with. ps: keep in mind a statement is not sufficent evidence and should not be used- anyone could state something in order to save themselves.

  • There should be something in the law that prevents things like this from occurring? This is wrong for these men to have to live like this, waiting on an inept prosecutor. They either did it or they didn't. What a waste of tax payers money. As far as Steve Tyler is concerned, he better be right, because this looks really bad!

    March 29, 2011 at 8:43 a.m.
  • Since when have Victorian's come to the defense of the indicted?

    March 29, 2011 at 7:30 a.m.
  • Mr. Tyler show us the report or admit the truth you are guilty of aggravated perjury one or the other. Is your staff so incompetent that one small report that is so vital to you, that you spent numerous tax dollars on , that hard to produce. This is the hands the voters of this city want us in. Lt. Ralph Buentello, David Smith I apologize on behalf of the sane people in this town for all the pain and frustration you must feel to have your lives in limbo. Please believe that not all of us voted for this man and more people everyday realize what a mistake was made. Steve Tyler come down from your power trip long enough to let these families get on with their lives. Sincerely, your boss a taxpayer.

  • Zorro, you can beg my pardon, but you won't get it. Grand Juries don't sneeze unless they ask the DA for a tissue. You are suggesting some rogue jury just ran around indicting people without any guidance from DA for life Tyler? Too absurd an idea to be remotely true. If you are suggesting the indictment supports probable cause, again you clearly misunderstand the relationship between a grand jury and prosecutor.

Get the data Tyler, and then get lost.

  • Gosh how things slacked up after elections. DA office is a joke the DA should go work for FOX and really be a comedian. I am glad that I didn't vote for this joker and for those who did sorry you all made such a poor choice. Can't wait till election time again and see how many people will still be backing up this lame excuse for a DA

    March 28, 2011 at 11:16 p.m.
  • Tyler's obstructionistic tactics continue. And Victoria re-elected the bozo. Go figure. He hasn't presented anything because there is nothing to present--except all the hot air of which he is so full. What a sad joke our D.A.s office has become.

    March 28, 2011 at 10:16 p.m.
  • "Tyler indicted Police Chief Bruce Ure, Mayor Will Armstrong and the two officials on perjury charges stemming from the Ratcliff investigation."
I beg your pardon, but didn't the Grand Jury indict the Good Fellas?
