Best Local Theater Production of the Year: "The Nutcracker" by Victoria Ballet Theatre

No matter how many times you see it, it never gets old. And that's what makes Victoria Ballet Theatre's annual production of "The Nutcracker" the best, founding director Debbe Busby said.

"The Nutcracker is important not only in this community, but in many communities all around the world. It shows the longevity of the music and the story and the timelessness of it," she said. "It appeals to a wide range of people, and you can see it many times without getting tired of it."

You can also perform in it many times without getting tired of it. Each year, an average of 140 local children and teens are cast in the production, many of whom have done it year after year.

"The Nutcracker" is performed each December at the Leo J. Welder Center in downtown Victoria.
