Best veterinarian: Dr. John Beck
Whether it's an under-the-weather pooch or a kitten going in for shots, each animal becomes top priority for Dr. John Beck, who was voted the Crossroads' best veterinarian.
Beck, who owns Hillcrest Animal Hospital, entered the veterinary field nearly 30 years ago. He said he was honored by the win and believed the level of care given is likely what helped the office stand apart from the rest.
The business maintains the latest technology, from digital X-ray machines, equipment and more, he said, and tries to cater to each individual. Everyone has different needs concerning their pets and their financial situation.
"Sometimes we wind up doing things we don't get paid for, but that's OK," Beck said. "We want to help."
Beck also attributed his success to his staff. He said he can't be there all the time, and it's important to have people in the office he can trust.
"It makes a difference," he said. "I tell them they're an extension of me."
