Christian Gutierrez, of Coby's Auto and Wrecker Service, prepares to haul away a car driven by 19-year-old Tommy Olguin that struck a tree in front of Carino's Italian Restaurant, 4904 N. Navarro St., Wednesday afternoon. Olguin was taken to Citizens Medical Center for treatment.

A 19-year-old man was injured in a Wednesday afternoon wreck on Navarro Street.

About 1:08 p.m., Tommy Olguin, of Victoria, was traveling south on Navarro Street in his turquoise Toyota Corolla near Bernie's Boats & Motors.

Witnesses said he crossed the northbound lanes before driving through a flower bed and hitting one of the palm trees in front of Carino's Italian Grill, said Victoria Police Officer Herschel Buck.

After hitting the tree, the car spun around and hit the pole holding the restaurant's sign.

The man, who was conscious and breathing, was taken to Citizens Medical Center via ambulance.

He was treated and released the same day, said a Citizens Medical Center spokeswoman.

Buck said the cause of the accident is unknown at this time, however, Olguin would receive a citation for driving without insurance.
