Citizens Medical Center's HealthWISE will host a free autism expert panel on April 11.
The panel will talk about the known facts including risk factors, symptoms, therapies and what to do if you think your child may have autism and how to parent a child with autism.
Dr. Stephen Dentler, a local pediatrician, Erin Hatley, the executive director of the Vine School; Lottie Tomko, an autism education specialist with Region III Education Service Center; and Susan Morrison, the mother of an autistic child; will be on the panel.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 1 in 110 children in the United States has some form of autism that falls in the Autism Spectrum Disorder, a group of disorders that cause challenges in the social, communication and behavioral aspects of a child.
