Yorktown's first Fools Folly Festival kicks off Saturday

More than a dozen bands are set to do battle at Yorktown's first-ever Fools Folly Festival on Saturday.
The contest features a diverse array of music, ranging from alternative to country. The winner of the contest will take the stage at Western Days-Ziegfest in October. The winning band will also be part of the festival's statewide and national marketing campaigns, and take home a $250 cash prize.
In addition to the contest, the festival will feature vendors for food, cold drinks and crafts.
The festival will be in Yorktown's city park, 141 S. Riedel St. The event is free to attend.
No coolers or outside beverages are permitted. Lawn chairs are encouraged.
