  • My Apologies Mr. Zuck,
My question to you was in reference to your comment....

“Tell Tom to hold one of those emergency meetings of the Sales Tax Corporation to rescind the passing of money for an illegal use of sales tax money for lobbying.”

You did say use of the money was for an illegal use? Right? I just assumed you contacted someone and got a legal opinion. My bad! So how did you arrive at that conclusion? Or is just your opinion?

  • Mr. Zuck,

what did the attorney general say when you called to report the illegal use of the sales tax money? Or did you call the local DA?

  • "Yet that money can't be rescinded unless the development board also votes to do so."

So we gave them $100K, and we don't get it back unless they want to? I understand it's still earning interest, but are they saying we basically increased the VEDC budget by $100K and there's not really anything anyone can do about it now?

  • "Not all agreed that the legislation was dead. Mayor Will Armstrong said the scheduled visits by the chancellors of the University of Houston and Texas A&M systems in June showed that the issue was still alive."
Or this might just be the coup de gras where the head of the firing squad puts the bullet into the body to be sure it's dead! lol

  • "State law won't allow the city to use public funds to benefit a private individual. So the city can't "cosmetically" cleanup of the storm sewer, historically known as "Phillip's ditch," Gwosdz said."

They could if they would claim it will ease the lack of parking in Riverside...

  • Now let's see if I have this right. Many years ago UH devotes time, effort and funds that could have been used for other purposes to establish UHV, an obvious boost to the Victoria area. Now the city council wants to spend a large sum of taxpayer money to help the Aggies steal UHV. What is wrong with this picture? Talk about a city being run by a bunch of hicks...

  • I think it is pretty clear that Victoria City Council is serious about changing to TAMU - why not take the money and use it now to better the community rather than leaving it in escrow. Seems private support has surfaced to pay for the website, etc. Is there enough money to allow $100,000 to just sit?
