Editor, the Advocate:
I would like to draw the attention of VISD District 1 voters to the superb qualifications of Kevin VanHook as board trustee. VanHook has exhibited his ability to be a positive role model for students, as well as a dedicated and effective member of the board. He works diligently for the interests of our students and teachers, and has a keen sense in school business matters. Kevin has a professional approach, which when added to his warm personality, promotes teamwork and accomplishment of the mission within an effective board. We need his dedication and integrity to keep VISD moving forward.
His opponent is a fine young man who has a bright future ahead of him, but has one more year of high school. He should spend the next year completing his high school education, then concentrating on his life/formal education and intellectual growth to develop and mature as a strong leader.
VISD currently has its house in order. We need the wisdom and experience of VanHook working for us, rather than our gambling a $100 million dollar budget on youth and inexperience. Please take the time to vote for Kevin VanHook as board trustee in this important election.
