A Victoria man was found guilty Friday of murder and intoxicated assault in connection with a March 2009 alcohol-related traffic crash.
The jury also sentenced Joe Cecilio Villarreal Jr., 47, to 60 years in prison for murder and 10 years for assault.
The charges stem from a crash where Villarreal drove his Dodge truck off a bridge near Placedo, killing Rosa Ramos Satterwhite and severely injuring Adan Arevalo.
He was charged with felony murder because he had four prior driving while intoxicated convictions.
Evidence at the trial showed his blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit of .08.
Assistant District attorney Eddie Wilkinson prosecuted the case while Lee J. Lewis represented the defendant. District Judge Joseph Kelly presided over the case.
