Bicyclist Raymond Alvarez is taken to Citizens Medical Center after being struck by one car and thrown into another at the intersection of Houston Highway and Hospital Drive on Monday morning. Alvarez, who was not wearing a helmet, did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

A 55-year-old bicyclist was injured after being struck by a car at the intersection of Houston Highway and Hospital Drive about 11:15 a.m. Monday.

Raymond Alvarez was crossing the highway by bike when he was struck by a westbound Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Norine Pulaski, 69, of Inez, said Officer Shane Wallace, with the Victoria Police Department.

Alvarez was not wearing a helmet and was thrown into a Chevrolet Malibu that was stopped at the intersection. The driver of that vehicle, 25-year-old Lorie Flores, of Victoria, was taken to Citizens Medical Center, Wallace said.

Alvarez, who was at fault in the accident, was also taken to Citizens Medical Center with what did not appear to be life-threatening injuries, Wallace said.

Alvarez may be charged with failure to yield, pending the complete investigation, Wallace said.
