The Golden Crescent Area Agency on Aging will hold its annual health aging conference on Thursday.
The conference features educational sessions about aging health, including new topics this year on osteoporosis, hypertension and macular degeneration.
The conference is always set in May, which is Older American Awareness Month.
"It's really kind of a chance to show our appreciation and support for seniors," said Geneva Bortel, the Golden Crescent Area Agency on Aging Community Services coordinator and 2-1-1 director.
In addition to the educational sessions, there will also be free health screenings, including a new test for prostate.
Six physicians will be at the conference presenting the topics, Bortel said.
Vendors will also be there to discuss information on services such as home health agencies.
The agency is expecting 500 to 700 people to attend, Bortel said.
"It gives seniors an opportunity to socialize with people, but it also gives them lots of information," Bortel said.
