Victoria police chief finalists announced

Three finalists have been named for the Victoria police chief's job.

They are

Michael Hansen, deputy police chief for Conroe.

Reece Daniel, police chief for Jacksonville.

Jeffrey Craig, deputy chief of police, support bureau for Long Beach, Calif.

The finalists will visit Victoria separately during the first week of June for a city tour and an interview with the selection committee, made up by City Manager Charmelle Garrett, Assistant City Manager Bruce Ure and Human Resources Director Cheryl Marthilijohni.

Sixty-one candidates applied for the position.

The job became open when Ure was named assistant city manager.
