A pick-up truck traveling on Mockingbird Lane struck a Victoria Independent School District bus Friday afternoon. The bus was believed to only be carrying one student who was taken home from the scene by a parent.

Three people were transported to the hospital after a Friday afternoon wreck involving a school bus at the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Regency Avenue.

At 3:12 p.m., a black, GMC pickup was traveling west on Mockingbird Lane when the truck reportedly went dead, leaving the female driver unable to steer the vehicle, said Victoria police officer Justin Schubert.

The truck struck a VISD school bus that was at the stop sign on Regency Avenue.

The driver of the pickup and her two children, who said they had no injuries, were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. However, they were transported via ambulance to Citizens Medical Center as a precaution, said Schubert.

The one student on the school bus, who was also uninjured, was picked up by his mother.

The names of those involved in the accident were not available as of Friday afternoon.

Schubert said the pickup driver would receive a citation for driving with no insurance.
