Traffic stops leads to $100,000 drug bust

The Matagorda County Sheriff's Narcotics Division seized 101 pounds of marijuana worth $100,000 on Monday in Bay City.

BAY CITY - A traffic stop on Monday led authorities to seize about 35 bricks of marijuana estimated to be worth $100,000. The bricks were hidden in the gas tank of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado.

The marijuana bricks weighed about 101 pounds.

The truck was traveling north on state Highway 35 from Corpus Christi bound to Houston, said Lt. Frank Craft of the Matagorda County Sheriff's Office.

The traffic stop was made by the Matagorda County Sheriff's Narcotics Division.

Jessica Gonzalez, 32, and George Earonh Villalon, 19, both of Corpus Christi, were booked into the Matagorda County Jail.
