Trial for men charged in 2002 shooting death begins Tuesday

Two Victoria men will face murder charges in a trial scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
John Anthony Trevino, a.k.a. "Chuke," and Gilbert Llamas, a.k.a. "Kilo G," are accused of fatally shooting Victoria resident Timothy "Tim" Hunt in 2002.
In addition to murder charges, the men, who were indicted in October, also face charges for engaging in organized criminal activity.
The defendants are accused of conspiring with other Hermanos Pistoleros Latinos street gang members to shoot Hunt in June 2002.
Trevino, 33, is represented by defense attorney James R. Beeler, while Llamas, 32, is represented by defense attorney Alex Luna.
Victoria County District Attorney Steve Tyler is prosecuting the cases.
The defendants are two of 16 gang members who were indicted by a grand jury in October on murder and attempted murder charges for cases that date to 2001.
The trial is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in Judge Stephen Williams' courtroom.
