Victoria police have recovered eight laptops and some cash that were taken during a break-in at Patti Welder Magnet Middle School about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Surveillance cameras in the school helped the school's resource officer, Wilmer McLeroy, identify two of the three suspects, the officer said.
One is a 13-year-old boy who's a student at the school. The other two suspects are 17-year-old men, McLeroy said.
After gaining entrance into the building by breaking a window in the librarian's office, the trio was able to locate a set of keys, which they used to break in to other rooms, McLeroy said.
School personnel discovered Wednesday morning the eight stolen laptops and missing cash. Police seized $177 worth of cash from the suspects, but some is still missing, McLeroy said.
The 13-year-old student was bragging about the burglary the next day, McLeroy said. He has since been suspended.
Police are building their case against the trio and will turn it over to the District Attorney, McLeroy said.
