  • Impound their LOWRIDERS and sell them at auction for the NO INSURANCE LOSS FUND< created to re-imburse people victimized by the uninsured daedbeats that BOB PERRY AND RICK PERRY IMPORT TO BUILD FLIP HOMES.

  • Vet, I really like your idea :). The problem is we need lawmakers with
some cajones to make this a reality.

  • Make it simple. No insurance, no car. Impound the vehicle and if the owner (who may not be driving the car) cannot pay the fine and provide proof of insurance in 30 days, auction the car and give the proceeds to the injured party. Think folks would get insurance or be very careful who drives their car?

Now the driver should put some flesh in the game. If they have a valid TDL they should be fined. If driving without a TDL, spend some time in jail. And lose the car!

  • Familyman - each and every time there is a mandatory "check point" set up to do just what you ask for, the entire citizenry of Victoria seems to lose their ever-loving minds about their "rights" being violated. "Oh, woe is me, you might find I have something illegal in my car or you might find I am driving without a license/insurance, etc." "You are doing nothing but profiling for this, that, or the other thing."

Can't have it both ways. Citizens either need to decide to let the police do their jobs, or be quiet and keep living with things as they are. We have an excellent PD here in Victoria; men and women who put their lives on the line each and every time they go on shift for each of us. Before any of you dare to say anything different, I challenge you to find ANY other city of this size or larger that would have a "perfect" police department, without one or more problems or problem employees. Unless you have participated in the Ride-Along program (which I have many times), you have no understanding of what they go through on any given shift. Yes, this is off-topic; my apologies.

But what Familyman asked is what the PD has done in the past, with the result of accusations of profiling and whatnot. That is absurd. I know these men and women very well from personal friendships.

I am extremely thankful that the young ladies in the accident were not seriously injured and were able to walk away from the accident. It is unfortunate that Mr. Villa's actions WILL indeed cause their insurance premiums to go up and cause them to possibly have large out-of-pocket expenses due to the accident. I agree that a ticket is a small price for Mr. Villa to have to pay. However, if that is what the traffic law says is the punishment for this offense, then the law needs to be changed on a state (or national) level.

Please forgive my rant this morning. I got off-topic, and again I apologize.

  • "I want to know why the police no longer stop traffic to check for drivers licsense and insurance."

    Papers, please!

I have no desire to live in a police state, though it's probably too late to do anything about it.

Great comment Bighorn, I like that.
Shoot, since we're all paying, I got some yardwork, tree trimming, etc... he could be doing!!

And I agree with all the comments here, why can so many people get away with this??

    Is it the PC bs??

  • Lock the "no insurance, no license, no can drive" SOB up. At least if I'm going to pay for his upkeep, I should have a say in where and what he is doing.

    Mainly, NOT injuring other citizens....

  • Last time I renewed my license and got my truck inspected I had to show proof of insurance. Ticket the person who loaned him the car, impound it, and hold it until the other two individuals receive full restitution.

  • I want to know why the police no longer stop traffic to check for drivers licsense and insurance. That would stop a lot of this driving with no lisense or insurance. Arrest those doing so. Manditory 30 days in jail would be a good start and 200 hours of community service to boot. Maybe that would change things a little. There will always be some that have no respect for the laws in any form.

  • Driving Dirty - It Pays.....don't worry about getting a drivers license or paying for insurance- if u have a wreck - so what- it's no big deal. What's gonna happen? It's not like your license will be taken away or you'll be dropped by your insurance company!!! People- we've got to make these stupid people pay! Instead the state is giving people chances to get out of paying for surcharges. Surcharges they got in the 1st place for 1) driving w/no license2) driving without insurance 3)driving while license invalid 4)DWI 5) too many points on license.

  • roberttx - thank you for the comment.

knight - yes luckily I do have have that in my policy. I've never been in this situation but I do believe I still have to pay a portion out of pocket. Also, if I file the claim I'm sure my lovely monthly payments will go up as well...

  • You should'nt pay out of pocket. Isn't uninsured / underinsured part of you own insurance?

    May 31, 2011 at 7:36 p.m.
  • kisstine I'm glad you walked away from the accident.

as for uninsured drivers I like the community service idea, in fact I think it's a GREAT idea.

  • I sure wish the state would Change some new laws so people driving around like him would serve some serious jail time & community service. You're right about us paying for his medical bills- probably his food and Medicaid too! Wonder if he's even a U.S citizen. I'm sorry the other parties end up paying for his stupid choice of driving dirty!

  • I was one of the victims of this accident. I think the good part is we are all alive. The horrible part is so many people get away with having no insurance or drivers licenses. Since this gentleman had no insurance, Linda and I have to pay out of our own pockets for the vehicle damages he caused. It's so unfair! This will be the second wreck in less than 2 weeks that I was a victim in and both parties had no drivers license.
