Voting open for 2010-11 boys athlete of the year

We are opening up the voting for Boys High School Athlete of the Year!
You can vote for one of the nine nominees already present or nominate someone deserving of the honor. Those nominated before Saturday at midnight who meet the basic criteria will be added to the poll.
Monte Green-Avery, Cuero, senior: Finished fourth at the state track meet in the 100-meter dash and second in the 200. Also was a key part of the Gobblers' basketball team. He excelled as a wide receiver and a defensive back for Cuero, and will be attending Abilene Christian to play football next year.
Hayden Vesely, St. Joseph, senior: Played defensive back and on the offensive side of the ball also. Was also a key player on the baseball team, serving as the team's top pitcher and one of its top bats. Also played basketball for a Flyers basketball team that made the playoffs and was ranked. Will be playing baseball at Blinn College next year.
Jamie Thomas, Victoria East, senior: Played cornerback and wide receiver for the 11-2 Titans, and helped as a defensive stopper for the East basketball team on its way to the regional quarterfinals, a triple-OT loss to Boerne Champion. He also ran relays in track and field.
Kam-Ray Runnels, Edna, senior: A wide receiver and defensive back in football for an Edna team that spent much of the season ranked. Was a key defensive stopper in basketball, earning all-area defensive player of the year from the Advocate. Also played center field in baseball, participating in the VC all-star game in May.
Micah Montes, Industrial, senior: A key backfield force for the Cobras during the football field. Also played basketball that was ranked this season and catcher for the Cobras baseball team, participating in the VC all-star game in May.
Brandon Sciba, Shiner St. Paul, senior: Was a key player for the football team that went 14-0 and won the TAPPS Class 1A/2A football title. Was a member two TAPPS state title teams, including baseball. Also participated in basketball and track and field at Shiner St. Paul.
Kerry Linn, Yoakum, senior: A first team selection in basketball, and made it to the regional meet in the 400-meter dash in track and field. He played wide receiver for the Bulldogs, and also played on the defensive side of the ball. He also played baseball.
Christian Wood-Dvorak, Hallettsville, senior: Played wide reciever for the Brahmas, and was one of the top performers for a Hallettsville basketball team that made it to the Class 2A state tournament twice. Also was a member of the golf team. He will be playing basketball at NAIA Southwestern Assemblies of God in Waxahachie.
Kyle Bludau, Schulenburg, junior: Bedeviled defenses as the Shorthorns quarterback, getting them to the Class 2A, Div. II quarterfinals before falling to Refugio. Also is a key bat in the lineup for the baseball team.
Ty Slanina, East Bernard, sophomore: The speedy quarterback for the Brahmas that almost got them past Schulenburg in the playoffs. Won a gold medal in the long jump at the state track meet, and also participates in basketball.
Commenters are also welcome to nominate a male athlete not present on this poll. Athletes must have been part of at least two sports during the recent high school season. Athletes who do not meet the basic criteria will not be added to the poll. To nominate someone, please leave a comment on this poll or email firstname.lastname@example.org with your nomination.
What we need is a statement about which sports they participated in, and any honors they have received from the team, district or state. Nominations after 11:59 p.m. on Friday will not be accepted.
