Name: Charles "Pop" Lassmann

Age: 75

City of residence: Mission Valley

Current title: Rancher and retired banker

First job: My first job was at First Victoria National Bank. I started there in college when I took a temporary bookkeeper position and stayed on 40 and-a-half years. Temporarily.

What it taught me: I learned the value of people and what customer service means in a business institution. I always told people we weren't in the money business. We were in the people business.

My First Job is a feature that highlights people's first - or wackiest - job and what they learned from the experience. Please limit responses to 100 words or less. Responses may be edited for style, content or length. A photo of the jobholder accompanies the feature.
