Nov. 9, 2011 at 5:09 a.m.

A paramedic attends to a victim of a two-vehicle accident on Red River Street on Wednesday morning. The woman was transported to a local hospital.

Three people injured in a Wednesday morning wreck on Red River Street near North Navarro Street were later discharged from a hospital.

About 11:35 a.m., a blue Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling east on Red River Street just past North Navarro Street, said Victoria Police officer Andrew Carrizales.

The Cobalt collided with a maroon GMC pickup that was westbound on Red River Street.

The GMC ended up on top of the front-end of the Cobalt.

Maria Kowald, 20, was driving the Cobalt.

The pickup was driven by Martin Baladez, 47.

His passenger, Josephine Baladez, 52, was also injured.

The three, who are Victoria residents, were transported to Citizens Medical Center. As of Wednesday evening, they had all been discharged from the hospital, a hospital spokesman said.

Carrizales said all were wearing seatbelts.

Baladez and Kowald will be ticketed, said Carrizales.

Baladez will receive a citation for failure to yield the right of way, and Kowald will receive a citation for traveling at an unsafe speed, said the officer.
