Ok I see your point. The job market in Victoria and taxes doesn’t match the rent rates for an apartment

Unbeleivable, govt assisted & section 8 are the same...both are rent subsideis from the government. I have heard finding an apt in Victoria is impossible if you don't qualify for the government subsidy. I wish somebody would step up & subsidize part of my housing expense...must be nice.

Victoria needs nice newer apts. Most of the apts in Victoria are old and ghetto.

I had to evict the last people in our house. Sometimes they leave in the middle of the night. And if they don't pay the electric bill you learn to deal with the electric company like the contract was made with the owner.

"I've been contacted by..." That is the classic, vague statement to conjure up unfounded concern. Affordable housing is the key to all this brouhaha. Over-price housing is what we have currently because of supply and demand. Realtors and landlords have been raking it in for years. How about giving the average family a break? I hope they build 20 new apartment complexes and 42 new subdivisions!

I live in one of the newer complexes and it's not section 8, it's govt assisted. There is a difference. The complex I live in is beautiful and well taken care of. Very little police calls and reasonable priced. The people that run it are tough on rules and regulations and you don't get second chances. I lived in a high priced good neighborhood and the landlord was horrible. I paid way to much to live in an apt that had rodents and wasn't well kept. We do need apts that are nice and not so expensive that are well maintained and safe.

It dosent matter how many appartment units there are available, there are more than enough people looking for section 8 housing, and that is what all of the "nicer" complexes in town are...It makes me sick!

The one's who are likely concerned about new apartments are those who run overpriced, trashy apartments.
What this city needs is some new apartments that aren't section 8 housing.
I dare anyone to try and find an apartment to rent in this city that isn't an overpriced piece of crap located on the wrong side of town. You can't.
If you do, you will be placed on a waiting list.

Oh BS. Sounds like the apartment owners are looking for a city subsidy in the event their investment goes south. And with the current regime, they'd probably get it!
