Historic Old Town Shiner will conduct its 8th annual Home for the Holidays Home Tour from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
One highlight of this year's tour is the West-Wagner home.
In 1854, a stagecoach stop helped establish the community of Old Sweet Home. A descendant of the original homeowners later married local rancher H.B. Shiner, for whom Shiner is named, according to a news release.
In 1874, the West family constructed the home on display in Greek Revival arch-and-pillar style.
A barn also was built using 22-feet-long timbers hauled by ox wagons from Cuero and Indianola.
The West family lived in the home until 1891 when they sold to Frank and Anna Wagner. The West-Wagner homestead has remained in the Wagner family for more than 120 years.
Advance home tour tickets are on sale for $10 from local Shiner merchants or can be ordered at 361-594-3999.
Please leave name, phone number and number of tickets requested. Tickets on the day of the tour can be purchased at the Ehlers Cigar Factory/Shiner Chamber of Commerce, 817 Ave. E.
