CUERO - An operating hay baler caught about 130 acres on fire at noon Friday.
The grassfire burned about four miles outside of Cuero down a ranch road off U.S. Highway 183 North, said Jerry Dryer, a firefighter with the Cuero Fire Department.
Smoke filled the sky as the Cuero Fire Department, two units from Yoakum and one unit for Yorktown fought the blaze for about three hours, Dryer said.
No buildings were in danger.
