Museum of the Coastal Bend's Brand Wall documents ranching history in the Crossroads

Nov. 12, 2011 at 5:12 a.m.

The Museum of the Coastal Bend's Brand Wall exhibit is displayed at Bootfest.

The Museum of the Coastal Bend burned 105 local brands during Victoria's Bootfest celebration.

The Brand Wall, like the one on display at the King Ranch in Kingsville, is a collection of branded wooden tiles that serve as a living history of ranching in South Texas.

"We had an overwhelming response to our Brand Wall at Bootfest," said Museum Director Sue Prudhomme. "But we know there are many area ranchers who would still like to participate."

The museum will conduct another branding activity on Thursday for local ranchers who would like their brand included as part of the Brand Wall. The branding activity will take place in the museum's outdoor demonstration area.

The public is also invited to join these local ranchers at the opening of the museum's permanent installation of the Brand Wall in its gallery.

Located on campus at Victoria College, the museum will also offer its Holiday Artisan's Market, the Museum Store "Big Sale," and a bake sale/silent auction fundraiser throughout the evening's activities.
