Saturday Sermon: Walking with God
By John Fisher
As we live out our lives in this world, is your life in step with God? Genesis 5:21, Enoch walked with God, and God took him off the earth before judgment came to the world by flood.
Enoch meant dedicated, unbroken fellowship. Hebrews 11:5-6, Enoch please God. How? By constant fellowship with God, in belief, trust and unwavering faith in God. Please - is to be full agreeable with, acceptable. Amos 3:3 - Can two walk together except they be agreed?
Enoch walked with God by agreeing with God, agree means to meet together by appointment.
Malachi 2:17 - God says his people weary him, with words that are not in agreement with him. It is the sin of insincere spiritual profession of faith.
Malachi 3:13 - When our words are not in agreement with the Lord, we come against God.
To walk with God, our thoughts, words and lifestyle must agree with God. There is only one way to walk with God, by faith to agree with him, then you can have unbroken fellowship with God. Philippians 4 gives to us plenty of opportunities to walk with God by agreeing with him.
Philippians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord always - agree with God and be glad hearted in a constant faith walk with God.
Philippians 4:8 - Discipline the mind to think right, agree with God in his way of thinking.
Philippians 4:11 - Be content with what God gives you, agree with God that the Lord is all you need.
Philippians 4:13 - Don't say I can't - agree with God, and say I can do all things with the power of Christ within me.
Philippians 4:19 - God owns all and is the divine supplier - agree with God and trust him to supply all needs that arise in life - walk with God in faith and agree with him. Say for this I have Jesus. To walk with God is to agree with him. On purpose by daily divine appointment, obey God's word.
Romans 6:4 - Walk in newness of life.
2 Corinthians 5:7 - Walk by faith not sight.
Galatians 5:16 - Walk in the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:2 - Walk in love.
Colosians 1:10 - Walk worthy of the Lord.
1 John 1:7 - Walk in the light.
Revelation 21:24 - Those who are saved shall walk, eternally, live in the light or glory of God in heaven. One cannot walk with God and have constant fellowship with God unless one is in agreement with God. Do you seek this kind of life? This is only done by agreeing with God and accepting His Son, Jesus into your life.
