Blessing school district has great program
Editor, the Advocate:
On Wednesday of last week, I received a letter from a fifth-grader in the Blessing Independent School District. Included with the letter was a card he had made to pay honor to all veterans regardless of when or where they served our nation.
In his letter, he stated how much he appreciated my time in the service and for helping to keep our nation free. Also in the letter was a note from his teacher asking that I write to him, as the children loved getting a letter. This I have done. As I read the letter several times, I thought what a great project this is and what it is teaching these young men and women.
First, and foremost, is appreciation of what our veterans have given to keep our nation free; second, the card is their development of creating thought and penmanship; and, finally, what a great program this is. Why is it that a small school district like Blessing can develop a program like this and our larger systems cannot?
