Two women hospitalized after auto-pedestrian wreck

Two women were taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro on Thursday evening after they were struck by a pickup in the 3100 block of U.S. Highway 59 North.

Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to the report written by Police Officer Stephen Lang of the Victoria Police Department.

Marisa Cruz, 24, was driving about 8:10 p.m. in the parking lot of Discovery Inn Victoria at about 25 mph, Lang wrote.

Cruz was unable to stop her red Chevy Silverado, he said, and struck Regina Sims and Tanya Martinez as they were walking in the hotel lot.

Their ages and hometowns were not available. Officials said there was no speed limit posted in the private parking lot. Cruz was not cited and there will be no investigation.
