While my daughter is much milder on the spectrum, I too find myself having to push her to be independent and give her coping skills so that as an adult she won't become a "hermit". If you haven't read it yet, check out www.brainbalancecenters.com for information on helping the two hemispheres of the brain communicate more effectively to decrease symptoms of neuro disorders like autism. These centers offer lots of hope and information for special needs children and their families.

Kudos to Sheila and all the wonderful people making the lives of these special kids absolutely amazing. Additionally, the Advocate is to be applauded for bringing to light the challenges this large segment of our community (and their families) face.
