How to File
Filing ends Dec. 15 for the March 6 primaries.
To file, contact your county Democratic or Republican party chairperson.
Roger Stuart has waited for this time in his life for several years.
On Tuesday, the time finally came - the 57-year-old officially filed with the Republican Party for the nomination for Victoria County Constable Precinct 4.
The incumbent is John Miller.
"It's time for a change," Stuart said.
Stuart plans to retire in December as assistant fire marshal with the Victoria Fire Department.
Stuart worked for the fire department for 35 years and for the fire marshal's office since 1988.
He has also served as a reserve deputy for the Victoria and Jackson County sheriff's offices.
If elected, Stuart said he would work in a timely manner. He would also be out in the community, getting people to know and understand what a constable does.
He's campaigning already, he said.
"I'm going into it positively," he said. "I've set my goal and I'm going to achieve it."
