Bobby Marques rolled the top score for the week by being consistent during Red River League competition.
Scores were limited due to several leagues being off for the Thanksgiving holiday, but Marques earned the weekly honors with stellar games of 223, 246, and 226 to total 695.
John Figueroa posted the second high score with a 248 high game, contributing towards a 671 set in a senior league.
Other nice scores for the men were Rick Kalmus (269-665), Steve Zeplin (253-656) Mark Pahmiyer (648), senior bowlers Steve Gritta and David Snell with respective high games of 257 and 247.
The women had a very slow week with only two leagues with results.
Lori Heil was high with a 560 total during Guys & Dolls action.
Vera Cruz Restaurant bowlers for the week are Tom Lewis 722 and Gloria Billo 706 (both from Over The Hill).
Tony Bennett had an early visit from Santa by breaking the bank at the Century Lanes to collect $1,460.
He also demonstrated it does not take an especially high score to win. He bowled a 628 set and had a strike in the right frames for a nice Christmas present.
The PBA 2011-12 ESPN season will start Sunday with the broadcast of the inaugural GEICO World Bowling Tours men's and women's finals from Las Vegas.
The tour included stops in France, Kuwait, Thailand, Korea, Australia, plus the U.S. Open and USBC Masters Tournaments.
In the mens' finals Mika Koivuniemi will have a one-game match for the title against the winner between Sean Rash and Jason Belmonte.
Carolyn Dorin-Ballard will face the winner of two Swedish teammates, Nina Flack and 20-year-old Sandra Andersson.
ESPN will broadcast the matches at noon Sunday.
With another bowling season almost to the halfway mark, I will spotlight the oldest female and male bowlers bowling in a league.
Dorothy Moore will be 90 years young next February and still enjoys her bowling.
She has a 139 average and can still roll a good score.
Last Monday afternoon, she rolled a 192 game with open frames in the 9th and 10th.
She started bowling for fun in the 1970s but did not join a league until 1992 and has been a league bowler since.
Dorothy enjoys bowling for the exercise and the companionship with friends and, with her friendly smile, she has lots of friends.
Dan Gutierrez is the senior male league bowler in town and will be 89 in January.
He started league bowling in the late 1950s and bowled for several years before he stopped.
He started league play again in the Over The Hill League when it formed in 1984 and has been a member ever since.
He also enjoys bowling for the exercise and meeting with friends.
