  • I mean deport ANYONE. Who would want to go to Mexico?

  • @knight, the comment you posted [no insurance = automatic deportation] is coming off to me as a form of racism. you are basically stating that the people with no insurance are also illegal immigrants and that's a very IGNORANT comment. You would think that since they are illegals they would try in anyway possible to stay off the radar, and try their hardest not to get caught! its annoying that people pass judgement and make ignorant comments against certain people because of their resident status or lack of.

  • ok people lets get back on topic this is about auto insurance not health insurance! who cares if the next person doesn't have health insurance? that's their own personal problem no one else, now as for someone not having auto insurance it comes down to straight laziness! there is no excuse for not having auto insurance and the people who get caught without it should have bigger repercussions than just a slap on the wrist (a ticket).

  • Same thing with you DL, you're in the system but if a cop asks for it you have to show it, if you're driving.

    October 3, 2011 at 1:20 a.m.
  • If we are paying for the privilage of the police to check if we have insurance, why would we need to show proof?

    October 2, 2011 at 8:14 p.m.
  • Maybe some are ticketed and let go because they have insurance but they didn't produce the required paperwork? The cop can check the database to see if the vehicle is insured but you still are required the show proof.

  • I guess it should be noted that the driver of a vehicle is not required to have liability insurance. Just the owner of the Vehicle.

  • Few, if any PD in this state follow this policy. Uninsured drivers are cited, and turned loose with their autos.

Provide us with the numbers, Julian. Or calling your story BS.

  • Observer,

How about if one decides not to buy health insurance and they can afford it, then they have to sign a waver to absolve all healthcare providers of their legal responsibility to treat them...period.
You don't have health insurance, but can afford it, them you either pay or die, before you are admitted. Think that would go over very well?
That would take care of the illegal populations too. If they are not legal, they cannot participate in health insurance, thereby won't have the proper papers to get medical attention.

  • Vicad, please do a little research for us and find out how many traffic stops, wrecks, or just incidents occurred where drivers could not produce insurance. Then lets take a look at how many vehicles have been towed as a result of not having insurance.

I think we may find a slight variation between the two.

Lets just go back to 2008 when this rule began.

  • GOP_LoveChild, you seem to be missing the boat. I can choose to drive or not drive a vehicle. Should I choose not to drive, I have no obligation to buy insurance. Under ObaMaocare, I am given no choice -- buy the health insurance or pay a fine. Of course, I do have the option to stop breathing, but then his death taxes will follow me into my grave.

  • Cops everywhere claim that they are going to inforce the "insurance rule" but don't . So called "30 day policies" should be outlawed but aren't . As to lovechilds comment the only person being hurt by not having health coverage is the individual . Liability insurance protects all others.

  • Hypocritical for the same people who think we should confiscate citizens vehicles for not purchasing auto insurance are the same people who are against requiring these same drivers to purchase health insurance.

    October 2, 2011 at 9:46 a.m.
  • Why are the perps not arrested on failure to prove financial responsibility? Is it not a crime. Maybe people would be more viligant is getting insurance if they knew they may go to jail without it. Lock them up for a few days to teach them a lesson.

  • Please give me a break. In Victoria, a frind of mine and I witnessed a accident which resulted in a hit and run. We followed the truck, called the wonderful police department. Pointed out to the police that the vehicle had two different license plates and where the people were hiding. I requested a copy of the police report which a failure to show proof of insurance was given and turned loose. What a waste of time.
