If you don't visit the Victoria Public Library, it just may come to you.
The library announced its new five-year strategic plan on Monday. The plan establishes the library's goals and priorities, explained Dayna Williams-Capone, library director.
The top four goals of the library were listed as: early literacy, information fluency, cultural awareness and lifelong learning.
To accomplish these goals, officials plan to reach out to the community outside the library's walls, Williams- Capone said.
For example, the library plans to partner with day cares and other agencies that work with pre-schoolers to increase early literacy.
Older folks won't be left behind, as the library plans to hold outside computer classes.
Visitors also can expect to see some changes inside the library building.
The strategic plan calls for an annual 10 percent increase in Spanish language material in order to embrace cultural diversity.
The library also wants to increase reading programs for preschool children, Williams-Capone said.
The biggest change in the strategic plan this time around is the focus on directly addressing the needs of the community. The last strategic plan focused on building renovations, Williams-Capone said.
