Two people were transported to Citizens Medical Center following a collision on U.S. Highway 59 North, just north of Hanselman Road on Thursday.

Mayra Benitez, 33, travelling south on U.S. Highway 59 North in a silver Toyota Matra, was slowing down to make a right hand turn onto Hanselman Road when she was rear-ended by Irma Musallam, 62, of Houston, about 5:30 p.m. said Patrol Officer Bryan Knief.

Benitez and her passenger, Martin Berrum, 47, both of Victoria, were transported to Citizens Medical Center, where a hospital spokeswoman said they were both in stable condition.

Musallam will be cited for failure to control speed, Knief said.
