Bank of America's Operation Honor is an initiative to help men and women of service and first responders.

The Victoria branch began a letter writing center Thursday and collecting items for care packages to send to troops overseas.

"This is our way to show appreciation to people who serve our country and our community," said Sherill Koenig, banking center manager.

There will be a collection box at the bank ready to accept donations of trail sized toiletries and small wrapped snacks.

The drive will run until Nov. 14, the Monday after Veteran's Day.
