A motorcyclist was transported to a hospital after a wreck on North Navarro Street on Wednesday night.

Martie Hart, 19, of Victoria, was turning into an apartment complex in the 6800 block of North Navarro Street when she was struck from behind by Shelbey Cade, 16, of Victoria, driving a sports utility vehicle about 6:45 p.m., said Sr. Patrol Officer Jason Sager.

Hart was transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro complaining of pain in her back. A hospital spokeswoman said she was in stable condition about 8 p.m.

No citations have been issued at this time because the accident remains under investigation, Sager said.

  • all auto accidents involving a phone should be a mandatory 48 hrs in jail. give you time to think about your actions.

  • I think the paper should post the young lady name. At the same time the young kids these days are on the phone alot. The phone records should be checked. We all have seen wrecks from phone. The young lady should be lucky she is lucky not to be in jail. The police dept. should have given the young lady a ticket. If you hit someone from the back enough said. I hope the young lady learns from this wreck. Enough said.

  • lovemyboys, I have a teenage daughter who has totaled three vehicles in the last two years and luckily walked away, I will not buy her another vehicle, but if plastering her name on the front page could have prevented one the accidents, it would be worth it.

  • Come on Victoria Advocate! This is not front page news! Why in the world would you print the name of a 16 year old in the paper for having an accident??? Miss Cade isn't the first and won't be the last teenager to have an accident. I would have blown a gasket if this had been my child and you had put his name on the front page of the paper for the whole world to read. Don't you think she is upset enough without having to deal with the additional flack from her peers that read the paper? Better judgement should have been used before you sent this to press.

  • Duh, your hit from behind, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure who's at fault....must be somebody influential in town, we all know how that works in good ole Victoria.
