Quake upgraded to 4.8 magnitude
Thursday's earthquake that rattled South Texas, including the Karnes County area, has been upgraded to a 4.8 magnitude seismic event.
"It's not unlike breaking news in the media; 4.6 was the initial report. When we got more data, 4.8 was a more reliable number," said Bruce Presgrave, geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 37 miles northwest of Beeville. No damage or injuries were reported.
