First Victoria would like to announce the addition of Tony L. Knebel to their Mortgage Lending team servicing Victoria and the South Texas region. Tony brings with him almost 10 years of service in the mortgage industry and a wealth of knowledge, specializing in FHA, VA and Conventional loans.
Rail Link International's Board of Directors has unanimously voted to promote Eloy "Loy" Garcia to the position of President of Rail Link International and its subsidiaries. The move was made in recognition of Garcia's leadership of the San Antonio terminal and its almost exponential growth over the last six quarters and the vision for the future currently being implemented by Garcia and the San Antonio team. Loy has been with Rail Link for 18 years and is also a minority owner of the privately held corporation. Loy was born in Victoria. His grandparents were Albert and Gabriela Humphrey of Victoria.
Heritage Funeral Home of Memory Gardens has formally announced the appointment of former Victoria resident Kirk Betz to the position of funeral home manager. Doug Goad, former funeral home manager, is being promoted to company vice president. When asked about Mr. Betz's appointment, Mr. Goad stated, "Kirk brings a history of great skill and respectful funeral services back to Victoria. He is a friendly person who makes families feel comfortable the moment they meet him. His attention to detail is reassuring to the families."
The designation of Certified Insurance Service Representative has been conferred upon Kay Nelms Newyear, Commercial Account Manager, of Easley Insurance of Victoria, after her successful completion of five one-day courses covering all areas of insurance risks and exposures, followed by extensive examinations. The CISR Program is distinguished from other programs of its kind by an annual continuing education requirement, which ensures that designees stay current on the important policy changes and trends within the industry. Kay Nelms Newyear is to be commended on her dedication to professionalism as evidenced by the completion of the CISR designation and her commitment to continuing education.
Jeffry Moe, a University of Houston-Victoria assistant professor of counseling in the School of Education and Human Development, will host a panel presentation called "How to Effectively Advocate on Behalf of Your Child When He or She is the Object of Bullying" on Nov. 11 at Sugar Land Baptist Church, 16755 Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land. The panel is part of the Fort Bend school district Community Conference for Parents, in which UHV has taken an active role for many years.
Sandra McNeely, an assistant clinical professor of nursing at the University of Houston-Victoria, has joined the community advisory board for the Family Nurse Partnership. The partnership is an international health initiative with a regional presence in Harris, Galveston and Fort Bend counties. It provides home visits from registered nurses to low-income, first-time mothers for care throughout the pregnancy until their child turns 2 years old.
