VC Sports Club represents at Bootfest
This past weekend, the VC Sports Club hosted a food booth at the Bootfest and sold the "best sausage wraps EVER!" along with lemonade, tea, and soft drinks.
We would like to thank the community and those who visited our booth for their support.
Funds raised will help cover costs for team uniforms, travel and league fees.
The City of Victoria did a great job organizing the many booths associated with this event. Shane Simon was so kind working with us, answering all of our questions and concerns.
While our club received financial benefit from this event, the most rewarding experience came from the teamwork involved in organizing and working the booth.
Student athletes from the men's basketball, baseball, women's basketball, volleyball and dance teams worked together and had a great time.
We had a group of baseball team member's dads help with the cooking and provide their barbecue expertise.
Thanks to Michael Salazar, Frank Gutierrez, Sammy Palacios, Michael Valenzuela and James De La Santos. The VC Sports Club family appreciates the support from the community and extends a warm invitation to come watch our student athletes in action.
The VC Pirates women's basketball team lost a rough game Wednesday, dropping drops its record to 1-2 in conference play.
Brandi Calvo had a great game filling in for Allison Peters, who was in foul trouble most of the evening.
"We need to knock down our open shots and get the offensive boards when we don't," said head coach Josh Moore.
The women's team looks to get its first home win of the season Wednesday when it takes on Southwest Junior College at 6 p.m.
The VC Pirates tennis team finished 1-2 last weekend at the Corpus Christi Invitational.
VC lost to Rice University and Texas A&M University in their first two matches. In the third match of the day, VC defeated Prairie View University with Laura Leigh Steele and Nicole Gregory winning women's doubles, Garrett Gomez winning men's singles, James Dunn and Kendle Patek winning men's doubles, and Garrett Gomez and Alyssa Villa winning mixed doubles.
This weekend the team will be traveling to Waco.
The VC Treasures dance team will be hosting a Youth Dance Camp on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The cost is $35 per child and will include a T-shirt, snack, awards and a performance at an upcoming VC Pirates home game.
Parents may register their children at the VC Sports Center front desk.
