Get ready. We have lots going on the next three months at the Victoria Art League.

We have new classes starting this month. I will be teach pottery, Jim Feig will teach two beginners digital photography classes, and Michelle Evans will teach four classes for elementary children including a pottery class on Wednesdays.

Pottery

I will teach two beginners pottery classes on Tuesdays, one from 1 to 4 p.m. and another from 6 to 9 p.m. starting Sept. 13. You will learn the complete process of creating and glazing pottery and should complete four or more pieces. The cost is $125 which will include clay, glazes, firings and other fees. Everything is furnished. Contact me at 361-575-3216.

Digital Photography

Feig's digital photography class is for the beginning or intermediate photographer who is interested in taking better photographs with the modem digital camera. Classes will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 6 through Sept. 27, and Thursdays, Sept. 8 through Sept. 29. The cost is $80. Contact Jim at 361-576-0578.

Children's Classes

Michelle Evans' elementary children's classes started Aug. 29 with Monday, Tuesday and Thursday classes encompassing a variety of media. Wednesday will be ceramics only. Each class meets one day a week. The cost is $10 registration fee, $15 supply fee (for the year) and $44 monthly. You still have time to see whether there are openings at 361-572-8093.

Adult Classes

Sonny Timme continues to teach classes in a variety of media to adults. This is a good class to develop your art talents or learn a new medium. Contact Sonny to see what he is offering at 361-578-8722.

Next month, we are hosting a Fall Art Show for adults with registration taking place at the Art League on Oct. 14 and 15. There will be cash prizes and ribbons for winners in each category. The artwork does not have to be done in the last year, and there is still time to get busy and create something new for our show. Contact the art league for more information at 361-572-0825.

Also, we are preparing for our second annual Holiday Market Day on Nov. 12. We will be renting booths to sell Christmas gift items. Booths rent from $15-$25. All artists and crafts people, this is a great opportunity, so check your calendars. Along with our Holiday Market Day, we will have a Holiday Bazaar at the Art League throughout November until Christmas. Members have been and are meeting in various workshop sessions in rock painting, pottery, making holiday cards with photography and computer, candle-making, ornament-making, ceramics and more. Make plans to come see what we have done Nov. 12.

We continue to improve our historical building this month by renovating our porch out front and replacing part of our classroom roof. We have been able to restore some of our most critical areas the last year and a half thanks to generous donations from local businesses and individuals. Because of all the improvements we have made in the last year and a half, our restoration fund has been depleted severely. We will endeavor to continue our restoration efforts and would appreciate any help to restore our old building through donations to our building restoration fund. We are proud of our fine gallery and facilities that enable us to offer a variety of classes in our classroom and the complete pottery studio with kilns, wheels and room to teach and create.

Thank you, community, for your support. Come by and check out our gallery at 905 S. Bridge St. or sign up for one of our classes. Artists, prepare for our October competition, and everybody else plan to view the show through October and browse and shop at our Holiday Market Day and Bazaar on Nov. 12, all the way to Christmas for those unique items no one else has.
