Drop off locations for fire victims

Residents of Bastrop, Texas look at a map  of the areas burned on Wednesday in Bastrop.  Firefighters gained ground Wednesday against one of the most destructive wildfires in Texas history even as the number of homes lost reached almost 800, and an elite search team set out to find any victims in the smoking ruins.

DONATION DROP OFF LOCATIONS

Donation items needed are pillows, blankets, canned goods, toiletries and cash donations.

These can be dropped off at:

The Victoria Professional Firefighters Association, Guardians of the Ribbon South Texas Chapter and Victoria volunteer fire departments are accepting donations at all five fire stations: 606 E. Goodwin Ave., 2708 Miori Lane, 4406 Lone Tree Road, 2007 Salem Road and 9508 Zac Lentz Parkway.

Donations may also be dropped off at Kamin Furniture, 5909 Northeast Zac Lentz Parkway and Victoria College's Allied Health and Public Services building, 2200 E. Red River St. The Guardians of the Ribbon pink firetruck will be traveling around Victoria Thursday collecting donations.

The firefighters are seeking things like toiletries, toys, undergarments, clothing, pillows, etc. for victims of the wildfires. Donations will be accepted Thursday and Friday.

Victoria resident Sarah Rowland is looking for toiletries to send to Bastrop on Saturday. Drop off goods at Help For Pediatrics, 4206 Regama Circle, Bldg-A, Victoria or call 361-648-8131.

The Eagles Lodge in Port Lavaca, led by Chaplain Debra Leigh, is collecting bottled water, nonperishable food items, hygienic items, baby formula and diapers, blankets and clothing. Drop offs can be made at the lounge at state Highway 35 South at 361-482-7586.

First Baptist Church of Gonzales is accepting donations including blood pressure cuffs, diabetic supplies, diapers, baby food, nonperishable food, clothing (including underwear), toiletries trash bags, bottled water and gift cards to Walmart or H-E-B. Donations can be made at the church, 422 Saint Paul St. For more information, call 830-672-9595.

Tammy Brasher, owner of Harley's Restaurant, Harley's Liquor, and Yoakum Pawn and Jewelry, is accepting pillows, blankets, bottled water, nonperishable food items and toiletries. Donations can made at the business locations or to the Yoakum Chamber of Commerce at 105 Huck St. For more information, call Brasher at 361-798-0056.
