A Goliad man was killed in an oil field accident in Kenedy County on Friday.
Ronnie Wise, 24, of Goliad was killed Friday, Goliad County Sheriff Kirby Brumby said.
Wise's family was notified, Brumby said.
He worked for Liberty Swabbing, of Victoria.
The Kenedy County Sheriff's Office in Riviera is investigating, but has not released any details of the accident at this time.
OSHA spokeswoman Elizabeth Todd said OSHA is also investigating the death. OSHA does not comment on ongoing investigations, Todd said.
The accident occurred on the county line between Willacy and Kenedy counties.
The rig was on a three-year -old gas well drilled into the Frio formation, Texas Railroad Commission spokesperson Ramona Nye said.
OSHA is the lead investigation unit, but the Texas Railroad Commission is also investigating to see if any of their rules were broken, Nye said.
It is still unclear what caused the accident. No other injuries were reported.

September 10, 2011 at 1:51 p.m.My heart goes out to the Wise Family. I went to school with Ronnie and although he was not in my grade, growing up in Goliad you know everbody. I just saw him a few weeks ago and he was wondering how I was doing and what's new in my life and he always had a smile and seemed to be a very happy person. Rest in peace my friend....you will be missed.
