3-vehicle wreck injures Corpus Christi man on US 77

Sept. 9, 2011 at 4:09 a.m.

Victoria firefighters work at the scene of a three-vehicle wreck on US 77 south of Victoria on Friday afternoon. Three vehicles were involved in the accident. The driver of the white truck was taken to a Corpus Christi hospital.

A man was transported to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi after a wreck on U.S. Highway 77, two miles from the Refugio County line on Friday.

Terry Eddlemon, 32, of Corpus Christi, was traveling north in the inside lane on the highway in a Ford pickup when he was cut off by an unidentified blue vehicle, causing him to break suddenly, said Department of Public Safety Sgt. Cory Ledbetter. The wreck occurred a short time before 2 p.m.

Ricardo Alonzo, 24, of Houston, driving a truck tractor on the same road behind the unidentified vehicle and the truck, rear-ended the pickup, causing Eddlemon to lose control of his vehicle, which ran sideways off the road, Ledbetter said.

Ledbetter estimated the pickup rolled 1 times before landing in the median.

Alonzo and his passenger were unharmed, but Eddlemon was transported by helicopter to the Corpus Christi hospital.

Eddlemon was listed in stable condition Friday evening, a hospital spokesperson said.
