Cowboy up for the Jaycees

Grant Program - The national Dow Promise program is accepting applications for grants of up to $25,000 for programs that positively impact the educational and economic challenges faced by black youth and adults in the communities in which Dow has operations. Calhoun and Victoria County nonprofit organizations are welcome to apply. Deadline is Oct. 15. Call 979-238-4159 for more information.
Classic cowboy action is coming to Victoria courtesy of the Victoria Jaycees.
The inaugural Crossroads Cowboy Classic will be Sept. 16 and 17 at the Victoria Horseman's Arena in Riverside Park.
The event will include mutton bustin', junior bull riding and open bull riding.
Mutton bustin' is open to 4- to 7-year-olds under 55 pounds; junior bull riding is for ages 12 to 17; and open bull riding is open to those 18 and older.
Gates will open at 6 p.m.
Pre-sale tickets are $8 and $10 at the gate. Pre-sale tickets are available in Victoria at Cavender's, Farm Industrial and Fisher Auto Sales.
Pre-sale tickets also will be available from Jaycees Sunday at Buffalo Wild Wings beginning at 3 p.m.
